The Bait of Satan devotional for kids part 3

This is the last devotional for kids about offense, and this is possible the hardest to talk about. Kids today are bombarded with issues ranging from divorce to parents working more, to pressures to achieve. Today's kids spend 23 hours less per week with their dad than kids did 20 years ago. 23 HOURS. Most of that is a result of divorce, long working hours, and more evening activities. Kids are getting a negative view of their family because of this. Kids are dealing with offense in their very own family.

There was a boy in the bible who had every reason to carry offenses of his family but chose instead to forgive his family and look after them. Read about this story with your kids. It starts in Genesis chapter 38. This is a rather long story so just read bits and pieces. Ask them what they would have thought about their family if they would have done that. Continue reading in chapter 41 when Joseph becomes ruler of Egypt. He overcame all kinds of challenges and could have chosen to be offended and bitter but Joseph did not. Keep reading through chapter 44 and 45. There is a huge famine in the land and Joseph's family came for help. What would you have done if the people who did all kinds of evil things to you where at the mercy of you. What if you could do anything you wanted to them. What would you do? Joseph later in the story revealed himself to them and forgave them.

Are there family members in your life who you need to forgive for something that they did to you. Think about it. What family offenses are you carrying in your life?
