I hate this class! I hate school! My teacher hates me! These are comments that regularly come out of kids mouths. Pastor talked on Sunday about the levels. The lowest level is the world. The second level is friends. The third level is the believer. The forth level is family and spouse. The highest level of expectation is the Pastor. In the school world I would throw in the teacher to the highest level of expectation.
Kids hold their teachers in such high expectation that teachers and those in authority often are ones that children view as have offended them. The second level of offense in a child's life is being offended by those in authority. Sometimes children will even carry their parents offense for someone. Children will hear their parents talking about someone in a negative light and the children will carry those same feelings for that person.
Read with your child Romans 13. Ask them who is in authority in their lives. Talk to them about people in your life who where in authority that you didn't treat like you should have. Talk to them about ways that they can love those in authority.
